Silvestri's Story

I originally was trying to keep this part looking professional by referring to myself in the third person, but I felt that if you were coming here, it was either because you liked what you saw on social media or you were intrigued by one of my queries and wanted to learn more. So I figured it would be more beneficial to just be honest here.

My name is Silvestri. It's technically my real name and my pen name. But you probably already knew that since you're on a website called silvestriwrites.com.

When I'm not posting memes or skits on the internet in a desperate attempt to garner a following to make myself more appealing to trad pub (or give myself more of a fighting chance with self-pub), I work in STEM.

I have an education in physics and mechanical engineering, with career research experience in particle physics and nuclear fusion/plasma control. Currently, I do more data science and machine learning work, which I also have experience with from my time as a researcher.  (The good AI, don't worry.)

Outside of work, I am a lifelong daydreamer, and I spend way too much of my free time creating and refining stories or wasting time playing Overwatch with my sister.

My writing began in middle school with a thriller about a cannibalistic serial killer called The Long Pork Butcher. Sadly, I can't find it anywhere. I continued writing in high school with a serialized story I called Caesar, an anthology centered on a lone-wolf but principled criminal. It was inspired by Bodega from the Triforce Podcast and was eventually picked apart and reassembled into what I'm querying today as The Imaginary Western. My baby. My child.

Since then, I've worked as a ghostwriter, but I ended that career when my studies became a little too rigorous and ChatGPT killed the demand. I also wrote and directed a play produced at Lehigh University based on the Catilinarian Conspiracy. This was probably my peak as a creative. I learned so much from the experience and had so much fun. When I'm not actively writing a story, my storytelling is usually applied to my long-running Dungeons & Dragons campaign, Rizzing and Rolling, which has had the same six players since December 2023.

When I write, I tend to focus on human relatability, whether the story is set in a galaxy of space wizards and hippies or in the grounded life of a detective. I'm interested in portraying the wide range of ways people think and live. No matter how dreadful things are, I think there's still some light. And no matter how good things are going, there's always some darkness. I like trying to capture both.

On a more personal note, I have a brother with special needs. He requires constant, active care for his well-being. Because of that, I occasionally like to write stories where people with special needs are seen and play meaningful roles in the story. One of my current works-in-progress is an epic fantasy inspired by Mistborn that features a prominent character with Down syndrome. I hope that if it ever gets published, and maybe adapted for the screen one day, it gives someone from an underrepresented group a chance to shine.

Some of my biggest interests and inspirations include history (particularly the Roman Republic), Catholicism, Renaissance art, Agatha Christie novels, action storytelling, and orchids.
